We are Esse
From the streets of Mexico City to the streets of New York, we are Esse Taco.
Esse was born out of an obsession with tacos and the recipes we grew up making. We only have four tacos on our menu for a reason - we believe tacos should be simple and delicious.
We take pride in how we source, and our team of taqueros will be glad to tell you which salsa goes best with each taco.
Our Corn
The corn for our masa dough is sourced from independent farmers in Oaxaca, who grow heirloom varietals using the same ancient techniques their ancestors have used for over 10,000 years.
At Esse, we use heirloom corn pounded by volcanic rock to create masa, and then mill the masa by breaking it down with limewater to unlock complex flavors and nutrients.
Finally, we hand-press the masa into fresh tortillas. Each corn tortilla is made to order specially for you.
Esse Taco was created by chef Enrique Olvera, Santiago Perez, and the Casamata team. Casamata exists to share our Mexican identity, by creating world class experiences that reflect our heritage with pride.
